There is no shortage of things to do when it comes to celebrating our Independence Day on Lake Murray SC. On Saturday July 3rd 2010 you can kick your day off with the Annual Boat Parade that starts at approximately 12:00 at Bomb Island, and passes by both parks at the Lake Murray Dam. To participate in the parade you can register at the Lake Murray Visitor Center or call 803-781-5940 before noon on July 2nd.

Later that evening the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra will perform from 8:00 to 9:00 at Dreher Island State Park (Phone: 803-364-4152). Standard entrance fees for Dreher Island State Park will apply which are $2.00 for adults, $1.25 for SC seniors, age 15 & younger are free.

Following the orchestra performance, South Carolina’s largest fireworks display will begin over the waters of Lake Murray. Local residents and visitors alike will gather both on the shore and in the water to watch the spectacular display. Tune in to 106.7FM or 98.5FM to hear the patriotic music the fireworks are set off to. The fireworks are being set off at Spence Island and Dreher Island on Lake Murray SC and begin at 9:15.

Boaters will enjoy Lake Murray while participating in the Lake Murray Rally brought to you by the Chapin Optimist Club. This event will take place from 9AM-3PM Saturday May 22nd. The awards ceremony will be following the poker run at Dockside Bistro at 4PM.

The Captains Meeting will be May 21st at 7:PM at Dockside Bistro and Raw Bar. The participating landings will be Buffalo Creek Grill, Spinner’s Resort, Siesta Cove, South Shore Marina, Lake Murray Marina, Lighthouse Marina, and Jake’s Landing. Also PJ’s Pub and Grill will be available as a motorcycle stop.

Boaters will certainly enjoy the high water levels on Lake Murray and we can all hope for great weather for this event.
